Meet the Team

  • Joohyun Kim, Orfeo

    "Joohyun Kim is a mezzo-soprano, based in New York and hailing from Gwangju, South Korea.

    She graduated Master’s degree in Voice performance major at Mannes School of Music. She is continuing the Professional Studies Diploma course at Mannes School of Music studying with Margaret Lattimore.

    Her most recent appearances have included the role of ‘Hostess’ from Blitzstein’s Opera <Triple-Sec> at Manne Opera, ‘Annio’ from Mozart’s Opera <La Clemenza di Tito> at Mannes Sounds Festival. And ‘Presendia’ from N. Muhly’s <Dark Sister> in Mannes Opera, ‘Pane’ from Cavalli’s Opera <La Calisto> in Mannes Opera, ‘Dorabella’ from Mozart’s Opera <Così fan tutte> in Chicago Summer Opera, ‘Secrecy’ in Purcell’s opera <The Fairy Queen> and ‘Dryad’ in Strauss’s opera <Ariadne auf Naxos> in Mannes Opera. She also performed twice as an Alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah in New York.

    This summer, she will perform <Orfeo et Eurydice> as Orfeo with the Chicago Summer Opera."

  • Vivien Stringfellow, Orfeo

    Vivien Stringfellow is a mezzo-soprano from Massachusetts. She is a junior at the University of South Carolina pursuing her B.M. in Vocal Performance. Her previous roles include Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Ensemble (La belle Hélène, Die Zauberflöte). She was also a soloist in Brooklyn Art Song Society's "World at War" concert, and the University of South Carolina's Honors Recital.

  • Clara Fuller, Orfeo Cover

    Clara Fuller, mezzo soprano, and life-long avid reader, is passionate about the uniquely expressive blend of story and music that singing provides. She has sought to bring that joy to audiences in the musical theater realm in leading roles (Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Beauty and the Beast) and with operatic storytelling with Michigan State’s Opera Theater (Mrs. Anderssen, A Little Night Music; Ensemble, Don Giovanni, L’Enfant de les Sortileges, Falstaff) and the 2022 Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center (Carmen, Il Barbiere di Siviglia). The summer of 2023 saw Clara in a vocal performance and language based study abroad program in Todi, Italy. Clara is a current student of Jane Bunnell at MSU and enjoys singing with the premier choral group on campus, MSU’s University Chorale. Clara has soloed with MSU’s Chorale, Orchestra, State Singers, and Graduate Chamber Choirs as well as with the Bach Chamber Choir and the Jubilate Chorale in her home state of Wisconsin. A frequent participant in vocal competitions, Clara was a semi-finalist in the NATS National Student Auditions in 2021, the 1st place winner of the WI NATS Classical Treble Division in 2020, 2nd place in 2019 and 2018, and a finalist in the Schmidt Vocal Competition in 2019. As a rising senior at the university, Clara is eager to see how her final undergraduate year at MSU continues to broaden her skills and deepen her passion for the multi-faceted art of singing.

  • Eunha Jang, Amore

    Soprano Eunha Jang, from Seoul, South Korea, possesses a sophisticated voice covering opera, oratorio, and art songs and is currently pursuing a Performer Diploma at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Eunha began her musical journey as a scholarship recipient from the Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation during her high school years at Kaywon High School of Arts. She continued her education at Ewha Womans University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. Passionate about music, she has enriched her performance experience with works from various composers and periods, including a wide array of choral and contemporary pieces. She is preparing to begin her Master of Music in Voice this fall. She is poised to make her operatic role debut as Amore in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice with the Chicago Summer Opera, marking a significant milestone in her promising career.

  • Jessica Bell, Amore Cover

    Jessica Bell is a young lyric soprano pursuing studies in Vocal Performance and Music Education at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. From Manchester, New Hampshire, she has gained experience singing in many youth, community, and young artist opera productions both domestically and internationally. Most recently, Jessica covered the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Festival of International Opera Italia in 2023. Other full and partial roles she has performed include Dido in Dido and Aeneas, The First Lady in The Magic Flute, Alcina in Alcina, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, among many others. Some of Jessica’s recent achievements include winning Gordon College’s Concerto Competition and performing arias from Susannah with the Gordon Symphony Orchestra, being awarded the Presser Foundation Scholarship, and being selected as a finalist in the 2024 New Hampshire Opera Idol competition.

  • Erin Perry, Euridice

    Soprano Erin Perry (she/her) is a recent graduate of Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Music, where she studied voice with Prof. Nancy Maultsby. Most recently, Erin sang the role of Cleopatra in Händel’s Giulio Cesare at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, OH. Other productions include the Midwest premiere of Nkieru Okoye’s We’ve Got Our Eye on You (Deino), Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea in BWVP’s Playhouse Square debut (Drusilla), the world premiere of Griffin Candey’s La Casa de Bernarda Alba (Magdalena), and Händel’s Alcina (Oberto).This fall, Erin will be heading to Baltimore, Maryland to pursue a master of music in voice performance at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University.

  • Mirah Johnston, Euridice Cover

    Mirah Johnston is an emerging lyric soprano with a warm and expressive voice, actively pursuing a career performing both operatic works and art song. In May of 2024, Mirah graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She has studied voice under the tutelage of Dr. David Guzman since the fall of 2020. She has also had the incredible opportunity to study at the Royal Conservatory of London in the fall of 2022, studying privately with Professor Sally Burgess during that time. While at Boston University, she has performed various roles in opera scenes, including Ladybird from Henry Mollicone’s opera Ladybird: First Lady of the Land, Ellisetta from Bertati’s Il matrimonio segreto, and Servilia from La clemenza di Tito by W.A Mozart. Most notably, she was one of two singers awarded the honor of performing at the prestigious Dimmock Honors Recital, a distinguished recognition of undergraduate vocal excellence at Boston University. For this recital, she prepared and performed works by Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, George Crumb, and Pauline Viardot. Recently, Mirah had the privilege of performing compositions by the Cuban composer Eduardo Sánchez de Fuentes at the Popayán International Music Festival in Popayán, Colombia, alongside Dr. Guzman, soprano Grace Christensen, and accompanied by Juan Coronado. Looking ahead, Mirah is thrilled to be attending the New England Conservatory of Music in the fall. Here, she will pursue her Master of Music in Voice and Opera under the tutelage of Professor Carole Haber.

  • Jadyn Riggs, Dido

    A Cincinnati Native, Jadyn Riggs (she/her) is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she earned a BM in vocal performance as well as a minor in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies and a certificate in LGBTQ+ Studies.

    Jadyn is passionate about making the music industry more accessible, inclusive, and equitable. She is fervent about performing works by underrepresented composers such as female composers and composers of color. She is dedicated to using her performing career as a means of educating about the divides that exist in the classical music canon.

    Alongside her love for Opera, she’s also a choral scholar. Jadyn is an active church chorister and is also a singer in MUSE Cincinnati’s Women’s Choir. Alongside being a singer in MUSE, Jadyn also serves on their board.

    When not performing, Jadyn loves to spend time with her friends and family and explore new cities across the globe!

  • Xiangning Ouyang, Dido

    Ouyang Xiangning, a soprano, graduated from the Opera Department of the Central Conservatory of Music and is now studying at the New England Conservatory of Music. In 2022, she received an honorary nomination in the Vocal Group of the Long Island International Music Competition in New York, USA. She will also travel to Bled, Slovenia in August to perform Mìmì in ‘La Bohème' with the Slovenian Festival Symphony Orchestra.

  • Saige Hoffman, Dido Cover

    Soprano Saige Hoffman is a rising junior at Oberlin Conservatory, studying with Katherine Jolly. She was recently a finalist in the Vanderhaan Competition and a national finalist in the Schmidt Undergraduate Vocal Competition. Recent appearances include a soprano solo in The Messiah with the Oberlin College Choir and Oberlin Symphony, a supporting role in Orfeo with Oberlin Opera Theatre, and a member of the chorus in Candide with OOT. This summer Saige will cover Dido in Dido and Aeneas with Chicago Opera. Previously the soprano was an awardee as a National Finalist in the Young Arts Vocal Competition, a national semi-finalist in the Schmidt National High School Competition, and the winner of many competitions and awards in her native Miami area.

  • Tiara Abraham, Belinda

    Tiara Abraham is a soprano from Sacramento, California. A graduate of the University of California Davis undergraduate program, she graduates in May 2024 with her Master’s degree at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studies classical voice under the tutelage of Prof. Patricia Stiles. Praised for her bell-like clarity and poised stage presence, Tiara has performed as a soloist globally, including at Carnegie Hall, the Vatican, and Musikverein in Austria, as well as on national TV and NPR affiliate radio stations. She has also sung the National Anthem around the country many times including twice for the San Francisco Giants. In addition, she has won several international and national singing competitions, including the YoungArts Classical Voice, The National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Winston Scholarship for Classical Voice, and the 2022 UC Davis Concerto Competition, and has also performed in several masterclasses, including with Deborah Voigt. Tiara made her orchestral debut in 2022 under the baton of Maestro Christian Baldini with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra. She made her role debut as Zerlina with the Greve Opera Academy, performed in challenging contemporary chamber operas with the Four Corners Ensemble, and has performed scenes as Susanna and Hero. Aside from classical voice, Tiara enjoys venturing into other genres, including jazz, and has also delved in the world of composing, with her composition 'A New Dawn'. As an Indian-American musician, she is also an avid supporter of promoting underrepresented groups and composers in her performances.

    Tiara enjoys sharing her vocal and creative talents with the community, be it through concert fundraisers or performing at senior and memory care centers. In Bloomington, she currently serves as the soprano section leader at First Christian Church. She also holds the position of Public Relations Coordinator at Indiana University’s chapter of Student National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS). After obtaining her Master’s degree, Tiara plans to continue her musical training with Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA).

  • Destiny Strothers, Belinda

    Destiny Strothers is a recent graduate of Voice & Opera Performance at DePaul University.

    Ms. Strothers was named an Angeli Scholar with the Musica nelle Marche Opera program in Urbino, Italy. She was also awarded a full scholarship to perform in the InterHarmony Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy.

    Recent credits include Street Scene (DePaul Opera Theatre), New Faces Sing Broadway 1947 (Porchlight Theatre) and ad campaigns for Apple Pay & Google Pay with Chicago Transit Authority Partner, Ventra.

    Ms. Strothers originated the role of Frieda McCarter in the touring production The Birmingham Children’s March and Lisa Howard in Prelude to a Dream: The Volatile Eve of the March on Washington, performing “Oh, Freedom” on the steps of the historic Metropolitan A.M.E. Church to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington (Civil Rights Opera Project).

    Other past credits include The Homeless Monologues (Goodman Theatre), Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea (First Floor Theater), Swamp Baby (MPAACT) and Breath, Boom (Eclipse Theatre), receiving Black Theatre Alliance Award nominations for Best Featured Actress in a Play and Most Promising Actress. She has also worked with Pegasus Theatre, Chicago Children’s Theatre, The New Coordinates, The Hypocrites, The Annoyance, Jackalope’s Living Newspaper Festival and American Blues Theater’s Blue Ink Festival.

    Ms. Strothers earned her M.M. in Voice Performance at DePaul University and her B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from the University of Illinois at Chicago, magna cum laude with honors and distinction.

  • Izabella Gozzo, First Witch

    Soprano Izabella Gozzo, native of Brooklyn, NY, is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance at the Eastman School of Music. During her time at Eastman, Izabella has been selected as a featured soloist in works such as “Beauty of a Blue Sky” with Eastman’s Philharmonia Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with Eastman Repertory Singers, and Purcell’s Te Deum with Eastman Repertory Singers. In the upcoming 2023-2024 season, she will make her Kodak Hall debut in Eastman Opera Theatre’s production of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. She spent the summer of 2023 with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, where she was selected to perform in various concerts, such as the “Von drei bis vier” Recital at the Robert Stolz Museum and an Operetta concert with full orchestra at the Schlossbergbuhne Kasematten. Beyond singing, Izabella is a dedicated student leader—she serves as Vice President of Membership for Sigma Alpha Iota’s Sigma Theta chapter and as the Chair of the chapter’s Sisterhood Bonding committee. She also excels as a pianist and organist, both of which she has studied secondarily at Eastman. In her free time, Izabella enjoys reading and hiking.

  • Audrey Harper, Second Witch

    Audrey Harper is a soprano from Madison, Mississippi. Audrey is currently pursuing a B.A. in voice at Mississippi State University, under the instruction of Ms. Corinne Reece. Audrey placed 1st in the Sophomore Treble Classical Category at the Mississippi Chapter of NATS in 2022. She is currently active in several ensembles at MSU, such as State Singers and Opera Production. Her recent stage credits include: Maestra Delle Novizie (Suor Angelica, Festival of International Opera), Amahl (Amahl and the Night Visitors, MSU Opera), Sister Berthe (The Sound of Music, Golden Triangle Theatre), and Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute, MSU Opera). She would like to thank her family and instructors for all their guidance and support. Audrey is thrilled to make her Chicago Summer Opera debut!

  • Rylie Peck, Spirit

    Rylie Jo Peck is an incoming second year undergrad at DePaul University studying Vocal Performance. She was born and raised in Austin, Texas and has been singing for 11 years. She has performed in many highly respected choirs and participated in voice competitions in the Austin and Chicago area combined. Rylie had recently played the Character Joan in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene performed at DePaul University. She is very excited to be in her second opera production and to show the hard work of everyone involved. She has loved working with these wonderful and talented people. Rylie would like to thank her parents, university teachers and professors, and her private teacher Viktoria Vizin. She hopes you enjoy this fantastic show!

  • Isabel Lanz, Spirit

    A fresh face on the opera scene, Isabel had her debut opera appearance in the chorus of Carmen with the Chicago Summer Opera. She also was a member of the Honors Performance Series Junior Finalist Choir performing pieces of world music at Carnegie Hall, New York. Prior to larger stages, Isabel has been seen in community musical theater performances as the Queen in Frozen, Jr., the Store Clerk in Legally Blonde, Jr., Kelsie in High School Musical, Jr. and as an ensemble member in High School Musical, Jr. and a short form adaptation of The Lion King. Isabel is excited to return to CSO for another season.

  • Solein Lopez, Sorceress

    Solein Lopez, Mexican-American Mezzo-Soprano, is currently a senior at San Diego State University finishing her bachelor’s degree in Music Education and studies with Dr. Katherine Polit. She recently performed her first operatic role as Hansel from Hansel and Gretel with SDSU Opera Theatre. Lopez also performs with SDSU Chamber Choir and Mariachi Nueva Tradicion. She will continue her studies in the master’s program in voice at IU Jacobs School of Music this coming fall.

  • Hayeong Park, Sorceress

    Hayeong Jessica Park, a Mezzo-soprano from Flower Mound, Texas, who is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She is currently attending the University of North Texas for her Master of Music in Voice performance studying with Dr. Jeffrey Snider, she is the representative of UNT Opera International students, a board member for Opera Fans, serves as a Division of Vocal Studies Student Council, and a member of Opera on Tap. Hayeong made her debut as La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica), and Gherardino (Gianni Schicchi) with Varna International at The Grand Stand Music Festival MUZIKA! in South Carolina, conducted by Gregory Buchalter, The Metropolitan Opera. Her recent roles include Suzy & Lolette (La Rondine), Dorothée cover (Cendrillon), Flower girl (Le Nozze di Figaro), and the scenes from Meg (Falstaff) and Paquette (Candide). She also has participated for the World Premiere workshop, the Hell-Bound Train with UNT Opera, and recorded the album for Shara Nova’s Infinite Movement. Hayeong performs as a scholar singer in Dallas, she was a soloist for Fanny Mendelssohn’s Hiob Cantata choir concert while she was studying voice and fashion merchandising at the University of North Texas.

  • Shuo Wang, Aeneas

    Shuo Wang is a tenor from China, currently pursing a DMA and serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida, His previous educational background includes a Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor's degree from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, China. He has excelled in roles such as Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte," Nerone in "L’incoronazione di Poppea," and Ferrando in "Così fan tutte", Dorvil in “La Scala di Seta”, Prologue in “The Turn of The Screw”, Martin in “The Tender Land”, Tenor Solo in Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria”. Shuo has won top prizes in competitions like the Vivaldi Voice Competition, the Quebec Music Competition. His dedication to musical excellence is reflected in his ongoing training, performances, and academic pursuits in music.
